WEEK-END FACE LIFT
By Anthony B. Sokol, M.D., F.A.C.S.

If you're young, active, energetic, and happy, yet your mirror reflects someone older and sadder, you may be a candidate for a WEEKEND FACELIFT.

WHAT IS A WEEKEND FACELIFT
A remarkable new surgical approach that reverses the signs of facial aging.

WHO ARE THE CANDIDATES
A significant number of patients with heavy, relaxed necks (double chins) or tired faces that do not have the time nor money for major Plastic Surgery.

HOW IS IT DONE
This surgical procedure utilizes hidden incisions and minimally invasive techniques which cause less bruising, swelling, and discomfort. As a result, it is less costly and the patient returns to work earlier. This makes the procedure more affordable and reduces the time and expense of lost employment.

CANDIDATES FOR A WEEKEND FACELIFT
There are two categories of patients for which the operation is indicated.
1. The patient with a heavy, relaxed neck or double chin.
2. The patient with forehead frown lines, and low eyebrows. and a tired, relaxed mid or central face, (hidden cheek bones and deep smile lines).

THE SURGICAL REPAIR

CATEGORY ONE (The double chin)
The patients will benefit from a neck tightening with liposuction of the excess fat. Occasionally a chin implant is suggested to improve the profile. The operation takes only an hour and may be performed in the an outpatient surgicenter.

CATEGORY TWO (Relaxed central face, forehead frowns, and low eyebrows) The patients will benefit from a release of the frown mechanism, eyebrow repositioning, and a vertical lifting of the mid or central face-(cheeks, cheek bones, and smile lines). There are some patients with a combination of both categories. The surgical treatment can be done at one time with no additional time off work.

TREATMENT CENTERS
Both of these surgeries are done in an outpatient surgicenter . The duration of the surgery will be between one and two hours. The incisions are generally hidden or placed in inconspicuous locations. There is minimal discomfort and bruising. Candidates for Weekend Facelifts differ from those requiring standard facelifts, in the quality of their skin, age, and personal goals. Generally they are younger, in their 30's or 40's but healthy, active, older patients are seen for these procedures as well.

CONSULTATION
A consultation with a Plastic Surgeon will assist the patient in her decision. Frequently, the doctor will use Computer Imaging to show the patient the anticipated changes that can be realized by this surgery. Logistical and financial arrangements will be openly discussed and each patient will receive a complete cost estimate in writing.
